Based on impressive Phase III clinical trial data, Roche/Genentech/Chugai’s Herceptin in combination with chemotherapy was approved last month in Europe for the treatment of HER2-positive advanced gastric cancer patients in the first-line disease setting. Herceptin’s approval and pending launch is consistent with Decision Resources’ previous forecast for the agent’s entry into the gastric cancer market. The approval of Herceptin, the first targeted therapy to gain labeling for gastric cancer, is an important milestone for the treatment of the disease. As a result, Herceptin is now poised to revolutionize therapeutic options for eligible patients with advanced and metastatic gastric cancer – a disease that is characterized by very a poor prognosis and a dismally low survival rate.
This 15-minute analyst call, presented by Analyst Rachel Webster, Ph.D., will answer the following questions:
- What are the advantages of Herceptin over currently available cytotoxic agents used to treat advanced and metastatic gastric cancer?
- What is Decision Resources’ sales forecast through 2018 for Herceptin and for the overall gastric cancer drug market?
- In the gastric cancer space, how will Herceptin compete with currently available agents and how will it measure up against other competing emerging agents that will launch for the indication in the years ahead?
Dr. Webster will conduct a live Q & A session after the presentation.
